In order to properly diagnose and treat your pet with the correct medication, veterinarians at the Canadian Veterinary Hospital work with you and their team, and ensure the proper tests (diagnostics) are performed for your pet. We do not take chances with your pet’s health, and the sooner we diagnose them, the sooner they can be given the correct medication to aid in their recovery.
On site at the Canadian Veterinary Hospital, we are able to run tests to check the hematology (white and red blood cells, platelets), chemistry tests (liver, kidney, pancreatic, glucose, protein), electrolytes (sodium, potassium, chloride), thyroid tests, urinalysis, fecal testing, cytology and more. We also send many samples to the laboratory clinical pathology specialists in the UK, and obtain their opinions, whenever we need to go the extra distance for a pet.
Many pets who come to us are seriously ill with infectious diseases. For these we use the highest quality snap laboratory tests by Idexx, as our pets deserve accuracy and reliability when they are seriously ill.
Good medicine takes skill and accurate testing
In addition to testing pets for illnesses when they are sick, we also as in human medicine, run wellness or baseline lab tests to help catch illnesses early, and correct them before they become life threatening. Please speak to one of our veterinarians about what you can do at your yearly visit, to check your pets overall wellness. Not only does this help prevent serious illness in your pet, but it also saves you financially, from the burden of treating a life threatening problem. Finally, at CVH our veterinarians send our samples for rabies serology to the UK to one of the most recognized labs in the world. We ensure that your pet will be able to use these results for entrance to any country requiring rabies serology, that you may need to travel to. For samples that need tests for Australia, we employ the same high standards as well. When pets are traveling to South Africa, we use the Onderstepoort University Laboratory in Pretoria as it is one of the most highly regarded centers in the world, and offers a very fair price for our clients.
